Training Modules: Overview

The BEST Project currently offers the following training modules.  Click on each title to download a one page description of the module and its contents.  To inquire about ordering modules, click here.

Teaming helps programs strengthen their ability to work together to serve children and families.   Participants practice and implement skills such as establishing roles and ground rules, communicating successfully, managing conflict, running effective meetings, and participating in group decision making.  The Teaming module is currently available in two versions: Early Childhood Teaming and Middle School Teaming.

Early Literacy: A Collaborative Approach is designed for early childhood programs serving 3 – 5 year olds. It emphasizes practical, readily applied knowledge, allowing both new and experienced staff members to immediately implement practices that strengthen the literacy component of their program.

Early Literacy for Childcare Providers enhances the ability of childcare providers to support early literacy development in family home or small center settings.  This module is especially useful for providers collaborating with programs such as Even Start and Head Start.

Sharing Literacy was developed for Idaho’s State Department of Education and reinforces a shared foundation of literacy knowledge and practice among staff members and collaborators involved in family literacy programs serving 0 – 8 year olds.  Participants develop a strengthened repertoire of strategies for helping families provide young children with enriched literacy experiences that support school success. (Available through Idaho’s State Department of Education)

Literacy for Little Ones has been adapted from the Sharing Literacy module and focuses on literacy knowledge and practice for teams in programs serving families with children birth to age three.

Challenging Behaviors helps teams develop a proactive problem-solving approach to teaching children with challenging behaviors.  Participants develop a solid foundation for enhancing social development, identify and practice successful strategies for supporting positive behavior, and strengthen their skills for working with children who exhibit challenging behaviors.
